India Industrial Output Rebounds 3.1% In September
(RTTNews) - India's industrial production expanded strongly in September after a slight fall in the previous month, data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation showed Tuesday.
Industrial production rose 3.1 percent from a year ago, reversing a 0.1 percent fall in August amid heavy rainfall effects. That was above the expected growth of 2.5 percent.
Mining output recovered somewhat by 0.2 percent annually versus a 4.3 percent fall in August. Electricity output also rebounded 0.5 percent after falling 3.7 percent in the prior month.
Data showed that the annual growth in manufacturing quickened to 3.9 percent from 1.1 percent. Within the manufacturing sector, the top three positive contributors were coke and refined petroleum products, basic metals, and electrical equipment.
During April to September, industrial production posted an annual growth of 4.0 percent compared to 6.2 percent rise in the same period last year.
