Mexico Consumer Confidence Weakens To 7-Month Low
(RTTNews) - Consumer confidence in Mexico deteriorated for a second month in a row in December to its lowest level in seven months as financial and economic expectations remained weak, survey data from the statistical office INEGI showed on Monday.
The consumer confidence index dropped to a seasonally adjusted 47.1 from 47.6 in November. The reading was the lowest since May when it was 46.8.
Households' expectations regarding their financial situation in the next 12 months was largely unchanged at the end of the year with the sub-index reading edging up to 58.7 from 58.6 in the previous month.
Their view on the economic situation in the next 12 months weakened to a three-month low with the index score sliding to 51.4 from 51.9. Consumers also did not think this was a time to make big purchases and the index fell to 30.4 from 31.3.
