Wolverine Q4 Profit Meets Street, Sees FY25 Results Below Market; Stock Down In Pre-market - Update
(RTTNews) - Footwear maker Wolverine World Wide, Inc. (WWW), while reporting a profit in its fourth quarter compared to prior year's loss, despite weak revenues, on Wednesday issued fiscal 2025 outlook, expecting growth in earnings and revenues. However, the outlook is below market estimates.
In pre-market activity on the NYSE, Wolverine shares were losing around 5 percent to trade at $17.80.
For fiscal year 2025, the company expects earnings per share in the range of $0.95 to $1.10 and adjusted earnings per share in the range of $1.05 to $1.20.
In fiscal 2024, earnings per share were $0.58 and adjusted earnings per share were $0.91.
The Wall Street analysts on average expect the company to report earnings of $1.34 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Operating margin is projected to be approximately 7.7 percent, up 190 basis points compared to 2024. Adjusted operating margin would be approximately 8.3 percent, up 80 basis points from last year.
Gross margin is expected to be around 45.5 percent, a growth of 100 basis points compared to 2024.
The company expects revenue to be approximately $1.795 to $1.825 billion, representing a growth of around 2.5 percent to 4.3 percent on an ongoing business basis, and constant currency growth of approximately 4.7 percent to 6.5 percent. In fiscal 2024, total revenues were $1.76 billion.
The Street is looking for revenues of $1.85 billion for the year.
In its fourth quarter, net earnings were $24.6 million, compared to prior year's net loss of $91.2 million. Earnings per share were $0.29, compared to loss of $1.15 in the same period last year.
Adjusted earnings were $0.42 per share for the period, while prior year's adjusted loss was $0.26 per share. Analysts also expected earnings of $0.42 per share for the quarter.
Revenue dropped 6.1 percent to $494.7 million from $526.7 million in the same period last year. The Street estimated revenues of $485.74 million.
